A suggestion on stopping bullies

The United States Senate recently held hearings decrying social media as the culprit of children that have committed suicide because of bullying over the internet. Granted, I cannot imagine the pain and sorrow of the parents who have to suffer through the tragedy. However, these clowns in Washington yelling social media has “blood on their hands” makes for really great grandstanding but does not in any way get to the heart of the problem of bullying.

I would have loved to ask these great Senatorial leaders of ours if social media did not exist would they be bringing hearings for the paper and writing utensil companies if paper and pen/pencil was used instead? They remind me of former Chicago Mayor Lightfoot, who when asked what can be done to stop gang-related shootings her reply was: the gangs must be stopped from going across state lines to buy guns. Nothing about personal responsibility or breaking up the gangs.

Here’s a good first step in stopping bullying among young people: If you are caught bullying another, you are going to not be able to apply for a driver’s license until you are 21. If you are currently driving, your license is revoked until that age. It would make young people think twice before bullying another.
