Bergman needs to step aside

Jack Bergman voted to close down our government on Feb. 29. He should be known by the company he keeps. He voted with Andy Briggs, the election denier from Arizona; with Lauren Boebert, thrown out of a theater for vaping and groping her date; with Matt Gaetz, who the House Ethics Committee is investigating; with Marjorie Taylor Greene, right-wing radical from Georgia who said 9/11 was a hoax and defends the Massachusetts National Guard enlisted man who published classified information; and with Jim Jordan, who turned away from protecting college athletes from sex abuse in Ohio. Jack and buddies, the five of them who voted against continuation of government funding, perhaps should form a new caucus in the U.S. House of Representatives.

“The Fruitcake Five,” we could call it, a team of ne’er-do-wells whose policy is to paralyze the beneficial functions of our government in obedient servitude to “the Donald” Trump — the would-be dictator for a day, if we believe him, who has denounced the strongest immigration bill in years, passed by bipartisan vote in the Senate; who would have the Supreme Court, which he “packed,” find him immune from prosecution for crimes.

Jack Bergman is a big fan of Donald, who defrauded the people of New York by his criminal practices, who is civilly liable for sexual assault of E. Jean Carroll, who defrauded students at Trump University, who illegally had our nation’s deepest secrets strewn around Mar-A-Lago. Donnie showed what a family man he is by his payments to Stormy Daniels for an extramarital encounter. Don’t forget the years he was a big buddy of Jeffrey Epstein. “I’ve known Jeff for fifteen years. Terrific guy. He’s a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side,” said Donny.

This chosen one for some of the Evangelicals signs Bibles he doesn’t read, let alone follow. That’s OK with General Jack, who blindly follows behind a draft dodger who denigrated war hero John McCain, who was in the Hanoi Hilton from 1967 to 1973 while Trump was enjoying civilian life, suffering from “bone spurs.” This is the same Trump who insulted Gold Star families and called the American fallen “suckers and losers” in 2018.

This is the same Trump that was happy to see immigrant kids torn from the families and who proudly said to the NRA this year, “We did nothing,” as the country has suffered 583 mass shootings and 3,032 deaths from mass shootings since 2006.

So remember “The Fruitcake Five” are looking to turn this country over to a man who says he believes we should terminate “all rules, regulations and articles, even those found in the Constitution” to overturn the 2020 election. That was his view on 1/6 and remains his view today. No honest person can now deny that Trump is an enemy of the Constitution, according to Liz Chaney. Let Jack know, that coming around the VAMC when there are honors to be awarded and making noises about the USPS when changes are afoot isn’t enough. Jack Bergman needs to step aside and the Michigan 1st Congressional District needs representation from someone who isn’t a bootlicker for Trump and his anti-American, pro-Russian cabal. Let’s have our fruitcakes at Christmas, not in Congress.
