Letters welcome

Letters to the editor should be kept as brief as possible but can be up to about 500 words. The letter must include the writer’s full, legal name, address and telephone number. Letters are to be signed with a single name, even if representing a group.

Potentially libelous statements and personal attacks will not be published. The Daily News reserves the right to edit letters for length, grammar and questionable statements, or to refuse to publish questionable letters.

Names of writers will not be withheld except in the “Speak Out” section that runs on Saturdays. Items for “Speak Out” should be labeled as such. Authors must include their name and a telephone number where they can be contacted; the item will not be printed if submitted without this information. Speak Out items cannot be more than 250 words. Items can address previous Speak Out comments but not Letters to the Editor.

Letters printed represent the writer, not the views of The Daily News.

The Daily News normally does not publish “thank you” letters except in the “Bouquets and Barbs” section on Saturdays and then depending on the subject or event.

Letters can be mailed to The Daily News, Letters to the Editor, P.O. Box 460, Iron Mountain, MI 49801; or sent by email to news@ironmountaindailynews.com.

Did you submit an item and are wondering when it will run? Have any other questions about the process? Call Daily News Managing Editor Betsy Bloom at 906-774-2772, ext. 240, or email to bbloom@ironmountaindailynews.com.

Starting at $3.50/week.
