About those bumper stickers
Letter to the Editor
My name is Robert (Bob) Simon and I am one of the individuals who started the recall of the Dickinson County commissioners.
It is my understanding that a photo of two of the three bumpers stickers on my automobile has been posted on the internet. One of these bumper stickers says, “The Christian Right, America’s Taliban” and the other says, “Don’t believe the Conservative Media.” My understanding is that there was also some written commentary with it.
I have had a good number of people drive up next to me on U.S. 2, give me a smile and then a thumbs up. I have also had individuals at gas stations purposely drive back around and tell me they like them. I did have one individual ask if I lost a bet where I had to put those stickers on my car? I said no and asked if he would like to discuss either one of them. The person said no and then sheepishly walked back to their vehicle.
If you see me around town and would like to discuss what I mean, please let’s have a conversation. We most likely can find common ground. If you’re going to rant at me, call me a Commie or Marxist, please move on.
I have noticed that someone took out a Sharpie and tried to scribble out the word “Don’t” on the second sticker. A small and minor act of vandalism. To the person that did this, my mother taught me if it wasn’t yours don’t touch it. I guess your mother never got that message across to you.
Finally, I said above there are three stickers on my car. A little conservative cropping going on here in what was posted online. What does the other one say? “Vietnam, I Served.”
