Takes issue with bumper sticker
Letter to the Editor
I read with interest the recent letter written by a Vietnam veteran. First of all, I want to thank him and all military, past and present, who have served our country with might and valor. Thank you, sir!
As far as the bumper stickers on his car, that’s his right. He has the freedom of speech to do that. However, I as a Christian find the bumper sticker that reads, “The Christian Right, America’s Taliban” offensive. Most Christians I know are good people who help those in need and give a “hand-up” instead of a “hand-out.” Christians have been stoned, tortured, raped and murdered throughout history. Yet they still stand strong and will fight to the death for good over evil.
The writer of this bumper sticker letter appears to be an atheist, although I hope not. But one way or another, he should thank the Good Lord for surviving the Vietnam War. We truly did not belong there but that’s in the past. Many of my friends and some relatives weren’t as fortunate to return home except in a coffin.
I will pray for this man and hopefully he will see that his bumper sticker does not exemplify the majority of Christians worldwide. We are good people and portraying us as “America’s Taliban” does more to hurt his cause than that of the Christians. We are known for forgiveness.
And one last thing — please tell me when I can find the “Conservative Media”? Not even FOX News is truly conservative. NEWSMAX (possibly) and OAN (fair reporting). As Paul Harvey used to say, “That’s the end of the story!”
