As we approach Election Day on Tuesday, each of us will be making consequential decisions, whether that is how we vote, or even if we vote -- for choosing not to vote is still a decision. So here is my case to vote early or on Election Day, and vote Republican.
The Democratic Party now largely consists of people who have made themselves strangers in a strange land. This is the root cause of their frustrations. They are norma-phobes, having a profound fear of traditional values, healthy patriotism and the individual liberty of those around them. Many Democrats were, strangely, very content during the COVID lockdowns. Churches were closed, mandates were imposed, people were locked in their homes. Michigan's Gov. Gretchen Whitmer unlawfully usurped the powers of the State Legislature, to the objection of not a single Michigan Democrat. But as the COVID restrictions ended, they have become increasingly agitated and disillusioned.
The great American author, Ernest Hemingway, wrote of one character asking another how he went bankrupt. Two ways, was the answer; at first, gradually, and then suddenly. Considering this year's slate of Democratic candidates, like Abdul El-Sayed, running for U.S. Senate in Michigan; James Talarico, also for U.S. Senate in Texas; and Francesca Hong, who lost her bid for Wisconsin governor in the primary, it seems we have entered the "suddenly" phase.
Except it is not financial bankruptcy, but a bankruptcy of citizenship. Not because they have different political views than others, but because they clearly and explicitly have rejected the core principles of this nation; the free market, individual liberty, and the limits on government found in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
If they want to be Socialists, they have always been free to do so. That is not what these candidates want. Their goal is to make the rest of us be Socialists, by the use of government force. They have grown tired of being rejected, tired of civil debate, and tired of the hard work of persuasion. President Barack Obama spoke of a fundamental transformation of America. Something has changed for sure. A segment of his Party has, at first gradually and then suddenly, transformed into a truly radical and angry movement. They bitterly cling to their grievances and have, as their religion, a very old ideology -- Marxism.
The good news is we have an opportunity and awesome responsibility in this election to tell them "NO." This Nation and its people will not follow their ill-fated path toward greed, grievance and class-warfare. We are not Europe, thank God. We are not France. We celebrate the success of others. We believe in hard work and individual responsibility. And we treasure our freedoms and honor those who served to preserve them.
America is going to stay America! Please vote Republican. Thank you.
