Vote in midterms against the threat of socialism

Letter to the Editor

Within a few short weeks, voters in Michigan will be making the most important decision in not only our lifetime but the lifetime of our children and grandchildren as well. This is not a matter of Democrat or Republican affiliation but what we want our country to become. America has always had strength beyond measure. Our military has proven itself strong and protective for generations. God was foremost in the minds of most Americans. As time went on, God took a back seat on the bus; our education system dwindled down from the three R's to DEI, CRT and other very concerning issues.

I'm not here to point a finger, but I am trying to get our citizens to wake up. Socialism, followed by communism, is now front and center in our midterm election in Michigan. Our young people have been indoctrinated at a very young age, which has carried on through their college years. What we're turning out are voters who think socialism is the bomb. In a way, it is the "bomb" -- it's destruction with a capital "B." If you talk to most students on any college campus, they will sing praises of that way of life. Free stuff. Government be damned. No need for prisons or law enforcement. Healthcare for all. Apparently, no one has shown them what Canada actually looks like. It's more than hockey. Medical tests, treatments and prescription drugs are quicker to receive for a pet than a human.

We are now on a very slippery slope. Vote for the socialist and watch how quickly their "pie in the sky" changes to "sh– in shinola." I wish our theater would show "Dr. Zhivago," which was one of my favorite movies years ago. It gives a true picture of socialism/communism and believe me, it's not pretty, although the scenery and Julie Christie are beautiful.

Please, please, think of your family's future if socialism wins out in the midterms. We can never go back to the way things were. I'm pretty much at the end of life here on Earth. But my children and, especially, my grandchildren will be forced to live a life unlike anything we have had. Yes, America isn't perfect but if you look at what we have, we're pretty fortunate compared to other countries. The news we're being given doesn't give the true picture of what is being accomplished. All we see is the bad, not the good. It takes many years to undo the damage done to our country. Fracturing our ability to improve our way of life takes only one election to light the fuse. The match has been lit and we have just one chance to extinguish the flame of socialism. Don't blow it!
