I wanted to send a thank you from Corpus Christi, Texas, to all my family, high school friends, neighbors, etc., who called, texted and sent prayers our way.
I received a call from my friend, Fred Lafave, saying that M.J. Electric was sending crews to help us. I felt so comforted knowing a piece of home was on its way.
After the storm, when it was safe to go outside, it was such a beautiful thing to see all our neighbors coming together to help one another, cutting down trees, supplying water and generators, a home-cooked meal, etc.
It reminded me of growing up on the Northside. God is good and Harvey did not win. God bless Texas.

The 11th annual Tour de Dickinson Family Bike Ride on Aug. 12, sponsored by the Dickinson County Bike Path, was another great success. It would not have been possible without the help of about 50 volunteers, the community and the long list of monetary and in-kind sponsors. We would like to thank all of you.
