Bouquet

From Agatha Cavaiani, Kingsford:

The National Anthem opened the dedication of the Bert Carpenter Memorial at the Upper Twin Falls Badwater Bridge in Breitung Township by the American Legion Carpenter Clash Post 363.

The United States flag was raised on the Navy flagpole in the shape of a cross by Dan Chapman.

Louie Adams, master of ceremonies, introduced speaker Denny Olson, Breitung Township supervisor, who thanked local historian Bill Cummings in attendance for the excellent history of Bert Carpenter that appeared in the Daily News, along with County Road Commissioner Jim Harris.

Tom Gayan gave the commands for the color guard and the 1-gun salute.

Chaplain Keenen Scott prayed for a safe drive home and thanked everyone for coming.

Taps by David McMahon concluded the program.

TV6 was on hand.

Monies for the memorial were donated by the Sons of The American Legion Post 363 and the tribute motorcycle riders.

Labor was donated by local contractors and private individuals. Volunteers came for flowers and maintenance.

As you drive by, notice the awesome Navy flag pole in the shape of a cross which is lit at night and flies the Army and Navy flags along with our United States flag.

There is a picnic table placed for your convenience.
