From Wisconsin state Rep. Jeff Mursau, R-Crivitz, 36th Assembly District:

I hope this finds you well and that you are finding fun and creative ways to stay active and connected with loved ones during these unprecedented times. Nancy and I are doing well and while I’m staying abreast of the serious developments impacting our daily lives, I’m also working on my “honey-do” list.

By now you’re aware of Gov. Tony Evers’ “Safer at Home” order, which is in effect to help slow the spread of COVID-19 across Wisconsin. At the time I write this, there aren’t any confirmed cases in our neck of the woods, so it’s important we all do our part to keep it that way. (Editor’s note: Health officials announced Thursday that Marinette County had its first confirmed coronavirus case.) I support the steps the governor has taken and I appreciate that the order allows many businesses to remain open and operate in creative ways.

Many of you subscribe to my E-updates that I send out by email on a weekly basis. During this time, I’ve been sending these out every couple of days to keep folks updated on what’s going on and answering the questions many of you have. If you’d like to start receiving my updates, please contact me at rep.mursau@legis.wisconsin.gov. My updates are also available on my website at http://legis.wisconsin.gov/assembly/36/mursau I know access to the internet is difficult in northern Wisconsin, so please feel free to call my office toll free at 888-534-0036. My staff is working from home, but we’ve taken steps to make sure that we receive phone calls, mail, and email while the order is in place.

I’d like to take this opportunity to recognize our health care workers, first responders, the National Guard and all of their support staff who are putting themselves on the front lines to care for the sick. I’m thankful for those who run our grocery, hardware, and convenience stores — and their employees — who make themselves and their families vulnerable so that the rest of us can get the things we need to get by. I appreciate our teachers and district administrators who are working diligently to find ways to stay connected to their students and making sure those who rely on the meals provided by the school are still getting them. And to our small business owners, please know that I will do what I can to support actions that will provide assistance to you and your employees during these trying times.

A few weeks ago, no one would’ve believed how our world was about to be turned upside down. I am proud to be a part of this community and hearing the stories of the selfless things folks are doing to help one another. If you know someone who deserves recognition, please let me know. I’d like to acknowledge them in my E-Update. And because we all need something to make us laugh or smile, please feel free to send me a funny picture or video that I can share with others in the district as well.
