Marking Disability Employment Month
Bouquets and Barbs
Bouquet: Throughout October, TRICO Opportunities Inc. focused on celebrating National Disability Employment Awareness Month. Held each October, NDEAM aims to educate about disability employment issues and celebrate the many and varied contributions of America’s workers with disabilities.
TRICO Opportunities is a private, not-for-profit organization that provides vocational rehabilitation services to individuals in the local area. TRICO’s mission is to assist those with disabilities in maximizing their abilities and capabilities. TRICO offers multiple services: skill building, supported employment, job development, career exploration, customized employment, follow-along services, hands-on student services, vocational evaluation and community-based day services. In addition, TRICO provides contract work to local businesses, an in-house recycling center for fiber products, general cleaning and lawn services.
Workers with disabilities have an essential role in a diverse and inclusive local workforce. TRICO recognized and celebrated seven workers throughout the month, their contributions and employment successes, and TRICO’s support in achieving their goals —
— Cody Cole, Dickinson County Library;
— Noah Poll, Northern Lights YMCA;
— Mike Bonetti, Fob’s Restaurant;
— Ken Bal, Tadych’s Marketplace Foods;
— Seth Adams, Pat’s Foods;
— Sawyer Gossil, NEPCO.
Creating an inclusive community values all its members and promotes equal treatment and opportunity. Building an inclusive workforce focuses on abilities and is a significant facet of the modern workforce.
If you would like to partner to create more opportunities in the community workforce, please contact TRICO at 906-774-5718.
