Health foundation in Iron area reflects on year’s successes

Bouquets and Barbs

Bouquet: The Iron Area Health Foundation, which is a private non-profit foundation to support initiatives in Iron County that enhance healthy living opportunities for all residents of Iron County, focused on their 2023 successes at a recent board meeting as the 2023 calendar year comes to a close.

During the 2023 year the Iron Area Health Foundation supported many varied initiatives for organizations and individuals in Iron County that focused on enhancing healthy living.

The foundation coordinated and sponsored multiple presentations of the” Do It For Daniel” anti-depression, anxiety and suicide program for adults and students at both West Iron County and Forest Park schools; provided four scholarships for graduating seniors at both West Iron County and Forest Park who were furthering their education in a health-related field of study; supported AED/CPR training and babysitter training coordinated by Tom Bucek; supported the Wykon 5K family run; matched funds for the West Iron County “Pink Out” fundraiser donation to the Iron County Cancer Unit; met with both adult and student representative groups to discuss health-related needs in both the community and local schools and to develop a plan to address the needs with support from the foundation; and provided grants to the Crystal Falls Contemporary Center Book Club, Medical Access Coalition Prescription Assistance Program and Young’s Recreational Complex cross-country skiing program.

The Iron Area Health Foundation is made up of an 11-member volunteer board and a part-time director. The foundation is very pleased to have been an active participant in supporting healthy living initiatives for all residents of Iron County during the 2023 year and look forward to continuing to support Iron County during the 2024 year.
