Further proof of society’s decline

When the so-called “Father of Heavy Metal” Ozzy Osbourne passed away recently, all three major networks, ABC, CBS and NBC, made it their lead story of the night. First, sincere condolences to his family.

However, with all the problems we are facing in this country — and the world, for that matter — to make his passing a lead story is evidence that this country is not going to hell in a handbasket but it has already reached the destination.

Heavy metal has not had what I would call a positive effect on our young and society. And to be brutally blunt, I would not call a former drug and sex addict — besides not being faithful to his wife, who saved his life and career — a role model for others to follow.

A one- to two-minute ending story about him would be understandable at the end of the newscast. But to make it a lead story as if some great hero has died is just further proof how this country and society has deteriorated. Society had better start waking up, and waking up quickly, before it is too late to ever right the ship.

Starting at $3.50/week.
