Organizers say thanks for Stomp the Snow support

Bouquets and Barbs

Bouquet: From Jean O’Dette, president of the Family Snowshoe Charity Association, organizers of the Stomp the Snow event —

We would like to thank our community for supporting the 2026 Stomp the Snow event.

The Family Snowshoe Charity Association Board, which presented the fourth-annual “Stomp the Snow” event Jan. 17, was blown away again by the amount of participation in this free winter family fun event. This year we had more than 200 lanterns and 200 glow wands spread over four trails (loops). The weather was mild, with fresh snow. We estimated that close to 600 people enjoyed the evening with family and friends. We were amazed at how far people traveled to join us and the number of people who never snowshoed before and are now hooked.

Once again this year, Pine Grove Country Club offered their famous pizza and pasta bar along with specialty drinks in the clubhouse.

This free event would not have been possible without the generosity of our sponsors –

Snow King major sponsors: Bacco Construction Co., Enbridge Inc., First National Bank & Trust, M.J. Electric, Pine Grove Country Club, Radio Results Network and TV6/Fox UP.

Hardcore Outfitters once again donated a set of snowshoes that we gave away earlier this week.

The Dickinson County Community Foundation, with matching funds from the Pasahow Family, provided a mini-grant to help pay for puck lights to hang on the bottom of the lanterns to provide additional light.

The Iron Mountain Tourism Association provided a grant to help fund Avideo Productions. Highlights of this year’s event will be released soon.

More than 200 businesses, organizations and individuals dedicating memorials for loved ones contributed by sponsoring individual lanterns.

I can’t say enough good things about our local media, which went above and beyond providing us with TV, radio, and newspaper coverage.

We also need to acknowledge the support of our two 2026 partners: Kiwanis Club-Iron Mountain Kingsford and Lake Antoine Park Partners. Both organizations provided volunteers who helped us set up, clean up and were there during the event assisting with the activities. Without their help, this event would not have been so successful. Shortly we will be announcing the funds raised this year and will be presenting both organizations with the proceeds.

Lastly, on behalf of our entire board, we would like to thank everyone to participated. It was a pleasure hosting this event for our community.

It takes a lot of people to pull off a successful event like this and I am sure we are missing people who should be acknowledged. We just want everyone to know that we appreciate their support and we are honored to be part of this community.

The 2027 event will be the third Saturday in January. Watch the Stomp the Snow Facebook page for more details.

Starting at $3.50/week.
