Shoved down our throats
Some one some where please tell me why we can not have real seeded watermelon? Why is the seedless stuff shoved down our throats?
Just another choice taken away from us. Is this so the younger generation once again will never know how good the real thing taste?
They do not know now how greed has down-sized everything we buy.
Shame on them all.
Believing
it was true
When I read the letter about Muslims, the Canadian mayor, and pork, I made the mistake of believing it was true. I’m sure the person who wrote it believed it to be true also.
A friend researched this for me and found a similar rumor that was going around in 2013. It was the same story only Belgium was written instead of Canada. It was almost word for word.
I guess we should stop paying so much attention to what’s on Facebook, Twitter, etc.
No one
is willing
I am writing to you in regards to the cat hoarding problem in Dickinson County and the failure of our animal control department.
I am hoping that you will bring this to light so that the people who hoard these cats can get help.
A man in Iron Mountain has had cats removed five times.
The numbers each time were 20-plus. He now has over 25 cats and no one will do any thing. How can DHS and animal control allow this to continue?
Animal control has given up and will no longer go back.
If we were downstate this would have been taken care of the first time but because we our in the U.P. no one is willing to do any thing. Why is this?
Paid the same
ultimate price
Once upon a time, a person just had to be dead to merit being buried in a cemetery. Unfortunately however, some within our government have now decided that even in death, the rules of their self-imposed pecking order must be observed.
Case in point: When an honorable United States National Guardsman was recently killed in a training accident in the Gulf of Mexico, he was denied burial at Arlington National Cemetery. This individual was no less patriotic, no less of an American, no less courageous and dedicated, and now is no less dead as a direct result of his dedicated service to our nation.
This brings to mind how, some years back, those American service men and women who perished as Prisoners of War under horrific conditions were also not deemed eligible for the posthumous award of a Purple Heart Medal. They too were no less dead in service to our country, but according to the reasoning of a few within government, their sacrifices were not up to their standards.
It took a great deal of work, soul-searching, logic, and common sense on the part of our own people to realize that a patriot in uniform does not always choose his place or circumstances of death.
This does not however, make him any less deserving of common respect and military honor.
They died in service to our beloved nation, and no politician, or even current regulation, can detract from the fact that this brave American trooper paid the same ultimate price for your freedoms as did any of the others who expired in honorable service to our nation.
Learn the
language
I think the police should have every right to shoot you if you threaten them after they tell you to stop. If you can’t understand the word “freeze” or “stop” in English you better learn the language and fast.
I don’t think just because you were not born in the U.S. of A. you are not qualified for special loan programs or government tax breaks etc., so you can open a hotel, coffee shop, trinket store, or any other business.
Our country did not go to the aid of certain foreign countries and risk our lives in wars to defend their freedoms so that decades later they could come over here, to the good ole U.S. of A. and tell us our Constitution stinks and it’s a living document open to their interpretations.
And I don’t hate the rich; and I don’t pity the poor. It doesn’t take a whole village to raise a child right, but it does take a parent to stand up to the kid and smack their little behinds when necessary, and say no.
I am sick of political correctness. I am proud to be from America and no where else.
Am I going crazy or what?
Support
these bills
It has come of a common opinion amongst Vietnam War Veterans that Congress tends to exclude mostly Blue Water Vietnam Veterans for VA benefits. This group of veterans never had boots on ground Vietnam, yet just the same they are sick due to Agent Orange exposure. It seems Congress and the VA consider these veterans not worthy.
There are limited benefits to those who served in country and those who served at sea are excluded, yet Agent Orange was in the drinking water onboard Navy ships causing sickness years later. How many more of us have to die in agony until there are so few of us left that the amount of dollars to care for those left won’t matter much.
Is this what America is about none caring attitude by our legislators?
Where does it say in our Constitution and Bill of Rights that our veterans need not be cared for when in need?
Over 175,000 Navy veterans are the unsung casualties of the Vietnam War.
It is not about Democrats and Republicans, it is about Americans who fought a thankless war.
Several years past, legislative Bills have been introduced for this group of sailors only to fail in committee. Presently there are two new bills, House Bill HR-969 and Senate Bill S.681, both are titled the Blue Water Navy Vietnam Veterans Agent Orange Act.
If either of these bills are passed, Navy veterans will receive their VA benefits. The American people can help by calling and writing to your members of Congress and Senators to support these bills.
Ordinary
carrots
I’ve been reading enough about politics in here lately.
Enough already.
Now, here is something to make us all think.
It is true that the bagged “baby carrots” in the supermarket aren’t baby anything. They’re just regular long carrots that are sliced down and put in a tumbler to smooth out their surfaces.
But they are every day, ordinary carrots. Really. They had me fooled.
