Weight loss support group meeting again

EDITOR:

TOPS is back in action and looking for new members.

TOPS, which stands for Take Off Pounds Sensibly, is a support group for those looking to get rid of the COVID 15 pounds that were gained during the lockdown.

The Crystal Falls group meets once a week at 11:30 a.m. Wednesdays in the council room of the Crystal Falls City Hall. Members are reminded to arrive early to get weighed and take care of any business concerns before the meeting. Organizers will be at the hall at 10:30 a.m. for that purpose.

TOPS is a support group, which means there are no formal diet methods that members follow.

Most everyone has been on a diet or two, and or “all of them out there,” so we know what works best for ourselves. What we need is just a little help or incentive to stay on that diet. That is what TOPS is for. We also have an old-style doctor’s scale with the swinging weights that is a great motivator — just having to get on that “contraption from Hell” every week is enough to scare anyone to put less food on their plate. Aside from that, we do have games that reward the member who lost the most weight in a certain timeframe. We have a weekly “no-no” picked from a list of bad choices, such as pizza or chocolate.

All in all, we have fun, and are a forgiving group. We know we can’t stick to a diet all the time, and that is what we are there for. We pick you up and set you back on track with no judgments, just warm wishes for future successes.

See you on Wednesday.
