Is death tolerated?

An editorial in the May 23 edition of The Daily News asked the question, “COVID-19, shootings: Is mass death now tolerated in America?” It seems to me that the answer is a resounding yes.

Years ago that was not the case. Life was sacred, respected and murders and attacks on life were rare. All that has changed in recent years. Today death is not only tolerated, it is accepted, legalized and even encouraged be it by abortion, infanticide, assisted suicide, or other ways.

As Albert Schweitzer, the French humanitarian and 1952 Nobel Prize winner said, “When you devalue one life, you devalue all life.” Until the day comes when we again respect all human life from conception until natural death, we can expect that death for any reason will continue to be tolerated.
