True story

EDITOR:

A tribute to a good and honest Iron Mountain car salesman and veteran, Mr. Robert Baldinelli. In the early 1960s springtime, I bought from him a 1953 used Ford two-door, stick shift, flat head V8 station wagon with the big round tail lights. He said it started and ran perfect and he was correct. I called it my Fred Fintstone Mobile. Why you ask? On the driver’s side front floor, there wasn’t any. If I wanted to stop fast I could put both feet down and drag them on the gravel roads.

I used to leave the big back rear window open. The dry white gravel dust would come into the wagon and go out the back window. If it wasn’t for the big round tail lights I left on when driving, you could not see the back of the car.

Now, muddy roads and big water puddles were a real problem. I had to fix it before winter for sure. Also, back then we used to say the letters FORD on the front of the hood stood for “Fix On the Road Daily.” Well, this car just kept on going.

Oh for the good old days as there was always something to look forward to.

Again his word was good.
