Sin versus righteousness
EDITOR:
In response to the article on the opinion page of the Thursday, Jan. 26, Daily News, regarding what the pope says about homosexuality — three very long columns — here’s my 250-word response.
Apparently, the pope of the Roman Catholic Church does not know his Bible very well. As a self-proclaimed follower of Christ, I am enraged, offended, insulted, and sorry for any readers, who may be ignorant of the scriptures and in agreement. God in His love, and mercy, wrote us His laws and basic instruction before leaving Earth in the book we label as the Bible. God, not the pope, gets to decide what He considers sin versus righteousness.
Jesus is the Way, the Truth, the Life, (Jn. 14:6) Jesus IS the Word! (Rev. 19:13) Thy Word is truth (Ps. 119:160). Yes, God accepts people just as they are; be it murderers, atheists, sinners. But, He does have some conditions when it comes to those who want to be part of His family.
Number one, is repentance. Yes, I’m talking about repentance from sin. Homosexuality is sin, according to God. Practicing homosexuals are not repentant.
The pope speaks of “conversion therapy.” Does he even know what the word conversion means?
Lastly, give me a chance, in using my 250- word limit, to say this whole article does nothing but stir up and contribute to hatred for Jesus “fanatics,” more literally known as Christians (followers of Christ). Jesus, when He caught a woman in adultery, after accepting her, forgave her, but commanded her to “go, and sin no more.”
