Service should still have value

In a small town like ours, the “grapevine intercom” is loud and clear — and means more than all the advertising of our big box stores! I have been boycotting a certain store in our area from April 2023 to November 2024. For over 18 months I managed to not step foot in the place. I have bought all my birthday gifts at other fine stores in our area and our small, privately owned shops. At Christmastime, I did not give in. Problems with pardons

A full-page message of Police Officer Appreciation was featured in the Jan. 27 issue of The Advertiser. The intended encouragement of our law enforcement community seems a bit hollow after President Donald Trump’s mass pardons Jan. 20 for roughly 1,500 rioters and the commutation of the sentences of 14 of his supporters in connection with the attack on the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. Forgiveness over revenge

Unfortunately, what concerned me the most about Donald Trump becoming president again is coming to fruition. His stripping some officials who have been threatened of their government-assigned security. Gen. Mark Milley, the former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, having his portraits taken down in the Pentagon, losing security clearance along with the threat of a taking away a star, etc. Quite alarming, considering the man has been in office less than 30 days. Bergman presses postmaster on changes to IM VA mail operations

Last week, U.S. Rep. Jack Bergman penned a letter to U.S. Postal Service Postmaster General Louis DeJoy, citing a recent decision that adversely impacts the mail processing for the Iron Mountain VA. In his letter, Bergman demanded answers for why the location’s outbound mail is now being routed to the USPS Processing and Distribution Center in Milwaukee, instead of the Green Bay center as had previously been the case. EDITOR: Is lying about people, places, conditions and opponents, both political or not, now a legitimate path to power and success? This was shown to be true in the result of our last election. Some examples of the lies included the behavior of Haitians in Youngstown, Ohio; the extent of crime by Hispanics in a Colorado town; the national inflation rate in 2024; job creation in 2024; and, presently, the wildfires in the Los Angeles area. EDITOR: The Democrat Party and the “deep state” are one and the same. Notice, I did not say “democratic” party, because they are anything but “democratic.” If there is a threat to democracy in the U.S.A., it stems from there, and from the fact that the deep state has been weaponized against anyone who might disrupt the undercover aristocracy.
