Cubs going with Ross as manager

CHICAGO — The Chicago Cubs are hiring David Ross as their next manager.

Ross returns to the team where he hit a Game 7 home run in the 2016 World Series to help the Cubs end their 106-year title drought.

This will be Ross’ first managerial experience after a 15-year MLB career that ended following the Cubs’ World Series win.

Following the Cubs’ parting with manager Joe Maddon, Ross has publicly expressed interest in the taking over, calling it one of the best jobs in baseball.

The 42-year-old Ross also won a World Series with the Boston Red Sox and played for the Dodgers, Pirates, Padres, Reds and Braves.

Since his retirement, Ross has served as an ESPN baseball analyst. He had also served as a Cubs special assistant to baseball operations.
