More than 240 at Lake Antoine Classic; full results
IRON MOUNTAIN – More than 240 participants enjoyed a beautiful day to run, walk or bike in the 38th annual Lake Antoine Classic on Saturday.
Held to benefit Special Olympics, the Classic was sponsored by Systems Control, Verso Paper, Dickinson County Healthcare System, Econo Foods and WLUC TV-6.
Bryce Holle of Hermansville finished first in the two-mile run with a time of 12:30. Trent Holle, also of Hermansville, finished second with a time of 14:19 and Andrew Gearhart of Powers was third with a time of 15:17.
Jolanda Steineke of Gladstone was the first female finisher in 14:21, Emma Allen of Kingsford was second with a time of 15:26 and Teresa West of Niagara was third in 16:33.
Jake Hegge of Onalaska won the five-mile race around Lake Antoine with a time of 27:41. David Hebert of Iron River was second with a time of 27:44. Mark Hallman of Amasa was third with a time of 28:20.
The top female was Jessica Nankervis of Lake Linden with a time of 35:26. Kyra Johnson of Norway was second with a time of 36:16 and Gabrielle Grundlund of Iron Mountain was third with a time of 42:20.
Daniel Kulas of Iron Mountain repeated as 15K champion by holding off Frank Pipp of Longmont, Colo., in a photo finish. Kulas outsprinted Pipp to the finish line, winning by a half-step. Both runners finished in 54:25. Dan Wentarmini of Iron Mountain was third with a time of 1:00:27.
Melissa Wentarmini of Iron Mountain was the top female finisher with a time of 1:06:46. Donna Gering of Ironwood was second with a time of 1:09:01. Rebecca Steinbrecher of Iron Mountain was third with a time of 1:09:05.
Dean Juntunen of Mass City won the five-mile wheel chair race with a time of 22:06.
