IRON MOUNTAIN — Some of football’s biggest names are being interviewed by Forest Park High School graduate Heikki Larsen.

Larsen, Forest Park class of 1993, works for music great Jimmy Buffett. When Heikki is not involved with a concert, he’s got special projects like the Real Football Network hosting Margaritaville Football.

“I’m having fun getting NFL players and coaches to talk about their profession while sharing fun stories from their career and getting to know them from a Margaritaville point of view,” Larsen said.

Behind the camera and doing the editing is Heikki’s brother, Lars, a 1998 Forest Park grad.

The latest “Coconut Podcast” is a sit-down interview with Ohio State Coach Urban Meyer. One of the topics was long-snapping, something Heikki did with Ray Palmer’s Trojans in Crystal Falls.

They also talked about Meyer’s baseball career and his recruiting trip to the wilds of the Samoan Islands.

“I ask questions outside of the usual sports media realm and enjoy listening to what they have to say,” Larsen said. “We have some laughs.”

“Outside of the usual sports media realm” questions would be:

How do they get away and relax from the game?

What do they drink on the beach?

What is their favorite music?

What is their favorite food when they’re hungover?

What are the biggest challenges playing in the NFL?

ESPN Monday Night Football analyst and former Super Bowl champion coach Jon Gruden, three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year J.J. Watt and NBC Football Night in America analyst Cris Collinsworth have also pondered questions from Larsen. The guests are all big fans of Buffett, better known as “Parrotheads.”

Watt, a former University of Wisconsin standout, got along real well with the Larsen brothers. He had feeling hearing the accent they were Yoopers.

Lars’ job title is creative media director; Heikki’s, production coordinator on tour for the past 17 years.

When they go on the road touring with Buffett, they go by the name of the Margarillas. Lars and Heikki are the sons of Mary (Schenk) and Chris Larsen.
