Flivvs zip Gladstone

KINGSFORD — Kingsford posted seven two-set wins and blanked Gladstone 8-0 in boys tennis Friday.

Flivvers No. 1 singles Alek Shanks downed Alec Miron 6-4, 6-3.

“Alek had a pretty good tussle with Miron,” said Kingsford Coach Mark Shanks. “He’s a nice player.”

Flivvers No. 2 doubles Preston Strong-Nick Murvich outlasted Austin Bergquist-Ben Flaminio 6-0, 4-6, 6-3.

“It was good to get the match in,” said Shanks, his Flivvers with three postponed matches this season.

Kingsford was missing two regulars and Gladstone one on Friday.

Kingsford (2-0) travels to Marquette County on Monday for matches against Marquette and Negaunee.
