Tennis: Mountaineers drop pair
ISHPEMING — Iron Mountain fell to Ishpeming (5-3) and Westwood (7-1) Tuesday.
“Considering that we were missing a couple of players, I thought the team performed better than the last time we met these two teams,” said Iron Mountain coach Sharon Ducat. “Most of the boys were playing up a level from where they normally play, yet they were quite competitive.”
The Mountaineers (0-6) host Gwinn on Thursday.
“Tysen Wadge had a good day with convincing wins in both matches,” Ducat said. “Shane Brooks was able to avenge a loss from earlier in the year against Ishpeming. Nate Chellew and Parker Swartout had a nice comeback in the second set to win at one doubles against Ishpeming.”
