Boys basketball: Carney-Nadeau squeaks by Trojans

CRYSTAL FALLS — Carney-Nadeau posted a 19-2 axdvantage in free throws and edged Forest Park 56-53 in non-conference boys basketball Friday at Eddie Chambers Gymnasium.

The Wolves converted 19 of 27 free throws while the Trojan made two of eight.

Forest Park (6-6), playing its third game of the week, held a 25-18 halftime lead.

“We had a great first half,” said Forest Park coach Chris Nocerini. “Offensively, we got beat up a little in the third quarter (with eight points).”

Carney carried a 39-33 lead into the fourth period.

“Defensively, I’m happy with the performance,” said Nocerini, noting Munising scored 79 in Thursday’s loss. “We did a better job defensively but we had some lapses and you can’t do that in a tight game.”

Josh Logan scored 19 points and Riley Hendrickson had 16 for the Trojans. Preston Lauscher led the Wolves with 26 points and eight rebounds.

“That’s part of the whole learning process,” Nocerini said of the three-game week that started by beating North Dickinson. “It was a rough week but a fun week.

“Our legs showed a little but Crarney did a great job. It was a nice, clean game.”

Stephenson visits Forest Park on Tuesday.
