Forest Park beats Norway

Boys Basketball

CRYSTAL FALLS — Forest Park sank eight 3-pointers to help beat Norway 56-52 in Skyline Central Conference action on Tuesday.

The Trojans (10-7, 5-2) were led by Connor Bortolini’s 16 points. Josh Logan added 12 points and eight rebounds.

Forest Park overcame an early hot start by Norway, jumping out to an 8-2 lead.

“Norway came out very fast paced. They jumped on us right away in that first quarter. We crawled back in and got it to 11-8,” Forest Park head coach Chris Nocerini said. “Our offensive production last week was just not there. The kids were relaxed and we ended up going into halftime down six. I was very happy with that because offensively things just haven’t been going our way. We came out and had a great 3rd quarter. Max Nylund had a couple 3s.

“To come out and win the third quarter was big for us,” Nocerini added. “In the fourth quarter, the kids just made good plays down the stretch. Every time Norway put up a shot, it seemed like we had an answer for us.”

Kody Hendricks and Connor Ortman led Norway with 15 points and 14 points, respectively. Hendricks had a team-high eight rebounds.

Forest Park hit its stride in the third quarter, out-scoring Norway 21-14.

“To come out and win the third quarter was big for us,” Nocerini said. “In the fourth quarter, the kids just made good plays down the stretch. Every time Norway put up a shot, it seemed like we had an answer for us.”

Norway JV won.

Norway plays at North Central on Friday, while Forest Park hosts Bark River-Harris.
