Flivvers’ Kriegl, Mountaineers’ Plumley honored

IRON MOUNTAIN — Iron Mountain High School swimmer Caleb Plumley and Kingsford girls basketball standout Jordyn Kriegl were named the Hometowne athletes of the month for February.

Plumley, a swimmer on the Kingsford High School co-op team, won two UP championships, scoring 74 points including six wins. He set a team record in the 100 backstroke and 50 breaststroke and took 19 wins with one second-place finish this season.

Kriegl was named the Great Northern Conference Player of the Year, averaging 22 points, four assists and four rebounds last month.

Hometowne Athlete of the Month winners are automatically eligible for male and female Athlete of the Year honors. The athlete of the year winners will be announced during the early June banquet.
