Iron Mountain falls in Class C quarterfinals

PETSOSKEY — The Iron Mountain High School boys basketball team fell to Maple City Glen Lake 66-49 in the Class C state quarterfinals on Tuesday.

The Mountaineers (23-2) fell to a 21-5 deficit in the opening minutes before charging back to cut the Lakers’ lead to three points at halftime. Iron Mountain took a brief lead in the third quarter.

Mountaineers freshman Foster Wonders led the team with 20 points.

Reece Hazelton led Glen Lake (23-2) with 21 points. The Lakers face Monroe St. Mary Catholic in the semifinals on Thursday at the Breslin Center in Lansing. Detroit Edison Public School faces Grand Rapids Covenant in the other semifinal. The state final is Saturday.
