Wykon freshman wins long jump

EAGLE RIVER, Wis. — West Iron County freshman Avery Bociek won the long jump in the Northland Pines Invitational track and field meet.

Bociek reached 14-feet-11.5 in capturing the long jump. She also placed third in the 1600-meter run (6:13.02).

In the 11-school meet, WIC girls placed fifth (49) behind champion Northland Pines (130.5).

Wykons’ Rachel Tefft was runner-up in shot put (34-6) and Jordan Shamion was third in 200 hurdles (33.89).

Northland Pines also won the boys meet with 139.33 points. WIC finished eighth with 32.

Bryant Schram claimed shot put with a toss of 50-10. Dawson Bongi was second in 55 hurdles (9.08) and fourth in 200 hurdles (29.13).
