Girls basketball: Niagara sinks Suring, notches 1st M&O win

SURING, Wis. — Niagara evened its M&O Conference record at 1-1 with a 56-54 win over Suring on Friday, led by Cassandra Gill’s 15 points.

Jaida Maki added 14 points for the Badgers, who won the back-and-forth contest despite making just 12 of 30 free throws.

“We made just enough free throws to hold them off,” said Niagara coach Karl Lamoreaux. “It was good to hold on.”

The Badgers also got 11 points from Jasmine Racine and 10 from Jessica Oratch.

Niagara (2-1, 1-1) will host Lena on Monday.

The Suring JV won 37-21.

SURING (54): Wagner 12, Stelzer 16, Krueger 18, VanBellinger 2, Smith 6: FT: 7-12. F: 25. Fouled out: Smith, Runge. 3PT: Wagner 4, Stelzer 5.
