Softball: Niagara sweeps STAA

NIAGARA, Wis. — Niagara swept Marinette St. Thomas Aquinas in a girls softball doubleheader Friday, 19-1 and 18-0.

“They’re young and rebuilding,” said Niagara coach Duane Blagec.

Jayden Payette earned the victory in the opener, scattering seven hits. She struck out one and walked none.

Noelle Champagne claimed the nightcap, allowing just three hits, walking one, and fanning seven.

Champagne, Destany Bourassa and Haley Allred ripped four hits each on the day. Julia Brown, making her first varsity start, collected two hits.

Lillian Sellen pitched both games for St. Thomas.
