GWINN — The Marquette County Mavericks kept its unbeaten streak going with an 8-0 Superiorland Baseball League win over Blagec Heating on Monday.

The Mavericks (4-0) broke the game open with a five-run fifth. Steve Hintsala pitched 2 1/3 innings for Marquette. He gave up no hits with three strikeouts. Dave Speaker Jr. pitched the final 2 2/3 innings and gave up two hits with two strikeouts.

Blagec Heating threatened with runners on in the fourth but Marquette catcher Spencer Larson tagged out a runner at home on a relay from right field.

No details were provided for Blagec Heating (1-3).

The other two SBL games were postponed because of rain. Channing plays a makeup game at 6 p.m. CDT Thursday against Negaunee. The Railroaders (1-1) were scheduled to host Coldwell Banker on Monday. That game was rescheduled for 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
