Baseball: Railroaders rock CBCH, 11-0

CHANNING — The Channing Railroaders scored six runs in the fourth to beat Coldwell Banker-Craig Heinonen 11-0 in five innings of Superiorland Baseball League action on Monday.

The Railroaders (3-1) had eight hits, including two singles by Kenny Pekarek. Barry Holsworth, Tyler Miller, Wade Holsworth, Bryan Harper, Bryce Jauquet and Conor Berndt also had hits. Harper and Miller doubled.

Coldwell Banker (2-3) had one hit, but no other team stats were made available.

State Farm hosted Blagec Heating, but no score was reported.

Marquette County 6, Negaunee 3

Marquette County’s Riley Lynch threw five innings to lead the unbeaten Mavericks (5-0) over the Blasters. He gave up three runs on five hits with a walk and eight strikeouts.

Steve Hintsala relieved Lynch for two innings, giving up a hit with no walks and two strikeouts.

James Bender pitched for the Blasters (1-2), giving up six runs on 10 hits with three walks and a strikeout. Duane Englund pitched the sixth, allowing a hit and a walk with a strikeout. Lynch and Aaron “Goose” Adriano led the Mavericks, each hitting 3 for 4 and scoring a run. Lynch had two doubles and Adriano had an RBI.

Channing hosts Blagec Heating on Monday, July 15. Negaunee hosts State Farm and Coldwell Banker hosts Marquette County.
