Border Battle tonight at UPIR Raceway

ESCANABA — The second annual Border Battle takes place today at 906 UPIR Raceway in Escanaba.

The 2019 Border Battle began at The Hill Raceway in Sturgeon Bay, Wis., on May 18.. Racers from Upper Peninsula International Raceway made the trek to The Hill to kick it off. Racers from The Hill, other Wisconsin tracks and Sands Speedway will battle it out for their final race of 2019.

A full slate of racing will feature Junior Micro-Sprints, Sportsman Micro-Sprints, 600 Micro-Sprints, Four Cylinder/The Hill Bombers, Vintage Modifieds, Stock Cars, Unified Street Stocks and IMCA Northern Sport Modifieds.

Many businesses and individuals have been adding to the drivers’ purse which will add to the door to door racing excitement and car count. Some of the top cash prizes are $750 to win the rowdy Unified Street Stock class, $450 for the top 600 Micro-Sprint warrior, $500 for the winner of the dirt slinging Sport Mods and $180 to the top battling four cylinder racer.

Pit gates open at 3 p.m. Eastern time. Pit passes are $25 for non-members and $20 for members. The grandstand will open at 4 p.m. with admission of $6 with age 10 and under free. The green flag will drop at 6 p.m.

Concessions will be available in the pits and grandstand.
