Trojans rip off 80 points

CRYSTAL FALLS — Forest Park pulled away in the second half to defeat Superior Central 80-40 in a Great Lakes Conference eight-player football crossover game Friday.

The Trojans (2-1) led 50-32 at halftime, scoring as time expired on a 9-yard pass from Tommy Peltoma to CJ Post.

The Cougars (2-1) managed just one touchdown in the second half as Forest Park’s defense finally stiffened.

“Their quarterback (Kyle Frusti) did a nice job of scrambling,” said Trojans coach Dave Graff. “We did better at getting to him (in the second half).”

Frusti threw for four touchdowns, the shortest one going for 52 yards.

The trio of Peltoma, Post and Gabe Scarlassara led

the Trojans, who amassed 624 yards of offense. Scarlassara rushed 29 times for 169 yards and three TDs; Post ran 23 times for 179 yards and three TDs; Peltoma completed 7 of 12 tosses for 142 yards and three TDs and carried 15 times for 89 yards and a TD.

Forest Park’s Tommy Showers caught a pair of TD passes.

On defense, Peltoma had two sacks and a fumble recovery while Daniel Franz had a fumble recovery and an interception. Showers and Ben Gendron also recovered fumbles.

An early injury to fullback/middle linebacker Noah Gilner required some adjustments for the Trojans.

“We showed our resilience,” Graff said.

Forest Park hosts Newberry for homecoming on Friday.
