Kingsford freshmen post 7-1-1 season

KINGSFORD – Kingsford’s bid for an unbeaten season ended against Marquette, as the Redmen beat the Flivvers 16-12 in freshman football.

Kingsford’s Nic Nora threw for 102 yards and a 15-yard touchdown to Cole Myllyla. Myllyla also rushed for 101 yards.

The Flivvers only had three offensive possessions each half. Kingsford made a big defensive stop with three minutes left in the game and marched 75 yards down the field with no timeouts threatening to take the lead with about a minute left. But a fumble on Marquette’s one yard line ended the game. A team spokesperson noted that the team had an awesome season and should be very proud.

Kingsford earned its seventh win by beating Rhinelander 49-30.

The offense rushed for 376 yards, led by Nora’s 178 with three touchdowns and Myllyla’s 85 yards. The offensive line did a great job blocking all night, coaches said.

Nora completed 4 of 6 for 28 yards and a 4-yard TD pass to Charlie Christesen. Jack Bartolac rushed for two conversions and Josh Peterson kicked 3 PAT’s.
