Playoff-bound ‘Cats clobber Lena/STAA

FLORENCE, Wis. – In a game that was out of hand early, Florence’s Kaden Schuls rushed for four touchdowns and the Bobcats pounced winless Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas 62-6 in eight-player football Friday evening at Robert Landry Field.

“We were able to get out to a big lead quickly to get to a running clock, get our reserves in and avoid injuries as we prepare for the playoffs,” Florence head coach Kent Walstrom said. “They came in shorthanded with some injuries and other losses to their roster.”

The Bobcats improved to 7-2 overall and 6-2 in the Marinette-Oconto-Northern Lakes-Packerland Conference. They’ll learn today who, when and where they’ll open the WIAA playoffs.

Schuls totaled 94 rushing yards on 12 trips. William Liebergen added two touchdowns with 58 yards on eight carries. And senior center Kobe Hodgson took a few carries and found the end zone for another Bobcats’ tally.

Defensively, Corbin Behrmann led Florence with eight tackles and two picks. Schuls also had an interception, along with seven tackles. Hodgson notched seven stops, and sophomore Kyle Leffler added seven tackles.
