FLORENCE, Wis. — Florence, with a 7-2 record, has qualified for the 16-team WIAA 8-player football playoff field.

In Round 1, Florence seeded No. 3 in its four-team region, will face No. 2 seed Laona/Wabeno at Crandon at 7 p.m. Friday.

The WIAA has set the game at a neutral site, due to the field in Wabeno not being up to WIAA playoff regulations. Laona-Wabeno handed the Bobcats and head coach Kent Walstrom their first loss of the season in Week 6 at Wabeno, 20-12.

The Laona/Wabeno-Florence winner would face the winner of Bruce at Shell Lake. Bruce is located a few miles west of Ladysmith, while Shell Lake is approximately 40 east of the Minnesota border.
