Trojans topple Nordics

CRYSTAL FALLS — Tommy Peltoma threw for 154 yards and three touchdowns as Forest Park defeated North Dickinson 60-12 in a Great Lakes Conference eight-player game Friday.

The Trojans (5-2, 2-1) led just 8-6 midway through the second quarter.

“My boys played a great game, as well as I

could have hoped for, for a quarter and a half,” said Nordics (1-5, 1-4) coach Mike Christian. “Then their power and size got over on us. I am very proud of the effort we gave tonight.”

Forest Park’s CJ Post ran for two TDs, gaining 130 yards on 13 carries. Gabe Scarlassara, who gained 57 yards on nine carries, also ran for two TDs.

Forest Park reeled off five straight TDs to lead 46-6 at halftime. “Give North Dickinson credit, they came to play,” said Forest Park coach Dave Graff. “We started rolling a bit in the second quarter.”

Josh Gilner, Evan Hedtke and Tommy Showers were defensive leaders for the Trojans.

Showers was on the receiving end of a 61-yard scoring pass. Gilner and Daniel Franz caught the other Peltoma TD passes while Mason Rintala ran for a 22-yard TD.

North Dickinson’s Brennan Donaldson ran for a touchdown and tossed a 28-yard scoring strike to Cameron Schultz.

The Nordics, who lost two players to injuries, will host Ontonagon on Friday. Forest Park is at Stephenson on Thursday.
