Youth football champions crowned

POWERS –The Central UP Youth Football League ended its season with the annual Doug Showers Memorial Championship.
Four teams made it to the championship games, which were played at the North Central football field in Powers.
In the Youth Junior Division, 5th and 6th graders from Norway, sponsored by LaFaive Convenience Stores, defeated Florence County Abstract/G & G Forest Products for the championship.
In the Youth Senior Division for 7th and 8th graders, Iron Mountain, sponsored by Leeds Kim Harder Webb, defeated North Central Jayz Smokin Tan for the title.
“The league would like to thank all of our team sponsors for our championship teams, as well as all other teams, for their generous support of youth football,” a spokesman said.
