Florence girls hold off Rebels, 60-58

WABENO, Wis. — Behind 23 points from Jordyn Springer and a double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds by Madison Neuens, Florence edged Laona-Wabeno 60-58 in Northern Lake girls basketball Tuesday.

“We went in o the game knowing Laona-Wabeno was a great team and we needed to play well to beat them,” Florence head coach Brad Perry said. “We needed to give it our best, because our bench is inexperienced, and the girls played their hearts out tonight.”

Springer collected her team-high 23 points on 8-of-15 shooting, including 3-of-5 from 3-point range and 4-of-6 at the line.

Jenna Springer posted a near triple double with nine points, nine boards and 10 assists.

“Credit to the Springer girls,” Perry said “They set things up for Madison (Neuens) to get her inside game going. It was an excellent team effort.”

Neuens was 10-for-16 from the field. Six of her 10 rebounds were offensive.

The Lady Cats were shot 64 percent from the floor, hitting 14-of-22 shots.

Florence’s jayvees fell 24-16.

Florence (3-3, 1-2) plays at Elcho Friday night in a varsity only matchup tipping off at 6 p.m.
