Nordics smother Broncos

HARRIS — North Dickinson shut down Bark River-Harris in the second half and posted a 47-33 non-conference girls basketball decision.

The Nordics outscored the Broncos 22-9 in the second half.

“The first half was up-tempo by both teams,” said Coach Kirk Mattson, his Nordics ahead 25-25 at halftime. “We couldn’t get a handle on the ball.

“We came out in the second half and rebounded better, and took care of the basketball.”

Hannah Clark and Skye Ledzian each scored 13 points for the Nordics (3-1).

“Skye must have had a double-double,” said Mattson, referring to points and rebounds. “I’m happy with Chrislyn Inglese (scoring nine points). She came out of her slump to hit some timely threes.”

The Broncos did hold Ashton Hord to six points and Briana Smith to four.

“They were really closing in on Ashton and Briana,” Mattson said. “Those two girls did a heck of a job finding their teammates.

“This was a great overall team win.”

Allison Richer hit three triples for BRH.

North Dickinson and Norway will meet Tuesday at Carl F. Lemin Jr. Gymnasium.

North Dickinson defeated BRH 36-31 in the junior varsity game.
