Girls basketball: Miners trip up WIC

NEGAUNEE — Behind 24 points, including six 3-pointers from Chloe Norman, No. 5 ranked Negaunee cruised past No. 4 ranked West Iron County Tuesday night in West PAC Conference girls basketball action.

“We had a rough second and third quarter scoring buckets,” said WIC head coach Eric Shamion, his team limited to five field goals during that stretch. “Credit Negaunee with some good defensive pressure that disrupted our offense.”

The Miners led 15-12 at the end of the first quarter and outscored the Wykons 47-27 the remainder of the basketball game.

Alyssa Hill added 15 points for Negaunee. The Miners improved to 8-2 on the season.

Tori Bociek led the Wykons with 10 points. WIC (6-3) faces another tough test Thursday, traveling to No. 1 ranked (8-0) Menominee for non-conference action.
