Wausaukee pressure too much for Florence

WAUSAUKEE, Wis — Florence couldn’t overcome a swarming and aggressive defense and a game-high 24 points from Wausaukee’s Stephanie Murray in a 54-36 non-conference girls basketball loss Monday.

“It was a tough game for us, they’re very good,” said Florence head coach Brad Perry.

“Their aggressiveness got to us, and I take the blame for tonight just as much the girls. I didn’t have them ready to face Wausaukee’s press. We’re going to have be better moving forward, myself included.”

The Rangers took a 10-point lead into the locker room at halftime and never looked back.

Madison Neuens led the Lady Cats with 14 points. Perry noted Haley Behrmann came off the bench and played well and gave the team good minutes, scoring seven points and grabbing five rebounds.

Florence (4-6) is home Thursday to face Northern Lakes Conference foe White Lake at 7:15 p.m.
