Badgers edge Cavaliers
MARINETTE, Wis — Despite St. Thomas Aquinas registering two players in double figures, Niagara held off the Lady Cavaliers, 42-41, Thursday night in a Marinette-Oconto conference makeup game from Feb. 18.
Junior Alyssa Cretton led the Lady Badgers with 13 points, while Jaida Maki chipped in nine points. Cassie Gill snared a team-high 10 rebounds.
Lianna Baxter of STAA led all scorers with 17 points, while teammate Addison Pristelski chipped in 11.
A key to the game, was the Badgers only committed seven turnovers, while STAA turned the ball over 20 times.
Niagara (13-8), which never trailed in the basketball game, returns to action tonight to complete the regular season hosting Suring.
There was no JV contest due to the Cavaliers not fielding a JV squad.
On Tuesday, Niagara hosts White Lake in a round 1 WIAA Sectional matchup. A 7 p.m. tip-off is scheduled.
