Boys Basketball: Flivver rally falls short

KINGSFORD — Houghton’s Brad Simonsen and Pablo Salgado combined for 48 points and the Gremlins defeated Kingsford, 59-51, here Thursday night in non-conference boys basketball action.

Simonsen, a Michigan Tech recruit, led all scorers with 27 points. Cole Bracket led Kingsford with 13 points, while Brody Kopp added 12.

We were able to put pressure on them and cause double-digit turnovers.”

Noting the Flivvers were able to get the score cut to 52-51 with under two minutes remaining in the game, Olkkonen said, “We needed that type of effort the entire game.”
