Ugly, but North Dickinson girls notch 14th victory

MUNISING — Ashton Hord led North Dickinson County with 22 points, and the Nordics had to overcome foul trouble in holding off Munising, 51-38, Thursday evening in girls Skyline Conference basketball.

Hord canned a couple of triples and made all four of her free throws to lead the Nordics offense.

“She had a nice game, especially playing with a head and chest cold,” North Dickinson head coach Kirk Mattson said. “We had foul trouble tonight and couldn’t get anything going. But the girls toughed it out. Munising played well. Give them a ton of credit. Sometimes you have to win ugly.”

North Dickinson committed 20 fouls in the contest with Skye Ledzian fouling out of the game, but the Mustangs only made 10 of their 24 attempts from the free throw line.

Munising’s Megan Matson scored 24 points to lead all players.

The Mustangs took the JV game 47-30. North Dickinson (14-2) hosts North Central on Monday.
