COLEMAN, Wis. — The 19U Iron Mountain-Kingsford-Norway Baseball team that competed throughout the summer months played in the Coleman Last Chance Tournament Aug. 1 and 2.

Manager Paul Julian reports that the team took home the tournament championship, going 4-0 throughout the weekend. They defeated four Wisconsin teams: Crivitz, Freedom, West DePere and Hortonville.

“The kids played awesome and we had a great time,” Julian said.

The U.P.-wide 19U and 17U leagues that played up until the end of July were initiated and primarily organized by Julian, with assistance from other coaches locally and throughout the region.

“Between our three 19U coaches, the 17U coaches, every coach in both leagues,” he said.

“From Gladstone to Marquette and everyone else in between, we all collectively made this happen and made it successful,” Julian noted. “Negaunee and Ishpeming had a combined team when we started out, but they ran out of guys.”
