Flivver spikers fall to Marquette in straight sets, 3-0

KINGSFORD — In Great Northern Conference volleyball action Thursday night, Kingsford hosted Marquette, and was swept in straight sets by the Redettes 3-0 (25-14, 25-12, 25-18) at the Kingsford Middle School Gymnasium.

We were not able to execute the game plan at all tonight. Marquette is a great team and more experienced, which showed tonight,” said Kingsford head coach Jaclynn Kreider. “We unfortunately played intimidated right from the start; we need to be more confident in our own abilities.”

Kingford returns to action on Tuesday when they face Twin City rival Iron Mountain at the Mountaineer Gymnasium.

“We had 23 unforced errors, which is not acceptable against a team like Marquette. You can’t give them a single point; they are going to earn enough on their own. We will keep our heads up and learn from this loss. We will be better because we stubbed our toes tonight. It may be exactly what we needed,” Kreider added.

Kingsford Stats:

Kills: Christy Glodowski 7, Abby Terrian 3, Grace Roberts 3, Talia Wallis 3, Danika Varda 1, Emma Allen 1, Zoie Geronomi 1

Blocks: Glodowski 2, Roberts 1, Wallis 1

Assists: Katherine Erickson 19
